Once you enroll as our student, after a few years of interaction with us, you can be initiated into a prestigious academic group (for example, you can become a political scientist!) or you can be certificated as an expert if you take a postgraduate degree. If your interest is the economy or international relations; if your passion is information or knowledge management, the search for peace, the meaning of life, politics, psychology or sociology, you are in the right place! Within our fold, you will find cheerful, joyful learning and fulfilment! And you will see boys and girls on their way to greatness, studying and preparing to lead the world, enjoying their lives and getting ready to depart from here well equipped.
In recent times we have seen more girls than boys in many of our undergraduate programmes. However, attracted by our serene yet challenging academic environment, the assured, strike-free duration of our programmes and the friendly guides and mentors we call lecturers, boys are picking up in all fields, taking full advantage of our peaceful, cult-free learning environment to cultivate their intellect and develop complete personalities.
The Faculty is proud to have produced the University’s first inaugural lecturer, who is also the first female professor of existential philosophy in Africa.
We urge you to step into our world and make it your home for a few short years. And then join thousands who have graduated and who are thriving all over the world because they were well prepared here!
You are welcome!
The Faculty of Social Science emerged in July 2023. It came out of the former Faculty of Management and Social Science, which started in 1999. With most of the Departments already twenty-five years old and counting, the Faculty is structurally matured, and ready for the role entrusted upon it by the society, namely to equip youths for a successful life in Nigeria and the diaspora.
To achieve this goal, the Faculty currently has 8 Departments, all adequately staffed, and less than one percent of whom possess a PhD in their specialty. Postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Ph.D are available in 7 Departments, beginning from Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) to Master’s degree (MSc or MA).
The alumni of the Faculty are found in major locations around the world and are active in diverse fields of activity.
The Faculty publishes the Madonna University Journal of Social Sciences, and hosts an annual international conference which attracts scholars and practitioners from around the world.
