Professor Ajibesin Kolawole Kayode

Professor of Pharmacy

Biography

I started my academic career in the Department of Pharmacognosy and Natural Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in 1998 as Assistant Lecturer, bagged my PhD in the same university in 2005. I have been a member and of several committees such as Medicinal plant garden committee, Quality assurance committee of the Faculty, Committee on Herbal Clinic and laboratory, National committee on Pharmacognosy curriculum, etc. I have trained both MSc and PhD students successfully. I have attended many conferences and have over 40 publications both locally and internationally. I was appointed a Professor of Pharmacognosy in 2013 at Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

Ethnobotanical survey of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria State

Information on the uses, methods of preparation, etc. of 114 medicinal plants gathered from the State

Antibacterial constituents of the leaves of Dacryodes edulis

Ethyl gallate and quercitrin were identified as the constituents responsible for the plant’s antibacterial effects.
