Departmental Background

Brief History

The Department of Entrepreneurship is one of the Departments in the Faculty of Management Sciences in Madonna University Okija. The Department started in the 2015/16 Session and runs a 4 year degree programme that leads to the award of a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc) in Entrepreneurship Studies.

This degree is acquired through comprehensive course work and a detailed research report, designed to equip students with the strategic rigor required to turn innovative ideas into scalable, sustainable enterprises.

"The Department of Entrepreneurship is specifically designed for those interested in starting and owning a business after graduation, or for practicing business people seeking trending proficiencies, competencies, and skills in enterprise management. Students are exposed to the broad spectrum of the entrepreneurial domain through intensive classroom teaching, fostering a spirit of originality and creativity to effectively face the challenges of self-reliance and contribute productively to national development."

Promote gainful employment and economic empowerment of individuals through comprehensive entrepreneurship development.

Equip graduates to cope with inherent environmental business problems and relate successfully and cooperatively with other persons.

Course Load

Academic Workload

Every student is required to register for an approved combination of courses with a minimum of 15 units and a maximum of 24 units per semester, totaling 164 units for the entire programme.

Evaluation

Assessment Methods

Course delivery is via lecture and tutorial. Evaluation includes quizzes, homework, and term papers (30%) and end-of-semester examinations (70%). Final year students are required to defend their research project.

GPA Calculation

Quality Points (QP): Credit Units (CU) × Grade Point (GP).
Example: A 3-unit course with a Grade B (4 pts) = 12 QP.

GPA: Total QP earned in a semester ÷ Total CU registered.
Example: 68 QP ÷ 16 CU = 4.25 GPA.
