Academic Foundations

Economics as a discipline was born in the eighteenth century when Adam Smith (1776) separated economics from political economy. He laid the foundation of Economics as a distinct social science, centering attention on the activities of man as a consumer, producer, and distributor of goods and services.

Our philosophy is to produce graduates imbued with the enthusiasm to contribute to Nigeria, Africa, and the global community by equipping them with a broad foundation of knowledge, ensuring they can navigate the everyday business of life with intellectual rigor.

Programme Design

Strategic Objectives

Develop and improve students' comprehensive understanding of economics at various stages of developmental growth.

Develop critical judgment and the ability to synthesize data on socio-economic problems using modern economic technologies.

Create a high-standard environment that enables students to raise their level of creativity and promote self-reliance.

Develop behavioral values in consonance with national objectives, emphasizing hard work, probity, and discipline.

Provide empirical explanations of economic events and facilitate predictions of reactions to changes in economic data.

Provide intensive teaching and in-depth research to develop high-level manpower for institutions of higher learning.
