Brief History
The Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Madonna University Nigeria, Elele Rivers State started in October 2003 under Doctor O. Nwankwo as the first Head of Department. Since then, the department has witnessed a tremendous increase in student enrollment and has graduated several sets of students since 2007.
Under the current leadership of Dr. Benedicta N Agu, the department continues to expand its structure, equipment, and staff strength. With a growing faculty of teaching staff, we are committed to producing professionals who meet internationally recognizable standards in public health service.

Address 21st-century health challenges including drug addiction, overpopulation, and environmental pollution through education.

Admission Requirements
- UTME: 5 Credits in Eng, Math, Chem, Phys, and Bio
- Direct Entry: 2 A-Level passes in science subjects
- Registered Nurses, NCE (Health/Science)
- OND/HND/Diploma in Public Health
Clinical Experience
- Compulsory ancillary courses (Biochemistry, Physiology, etc.)
- Mandatory Practicum after 3rd year
- Public Health Internship scheme
- Integration of practical experience with theory
Programme Structure
The Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health is a comprehensive four-year programme (or three-year for direct entry) requiring the completion of 166 credit units.
- Course Coding: PUH (Public Health), PIO (Physiology), BCH (Biochemistry)
- Semester Logic: Odd digits = 1st Semester; Even digits = 2nd Semester
- Stress Areas: Epidemiology, Disease Control, Environmental Health, Human Nutrition
- Requirement: B.Sc (Hons) upon completion of all prescribed courses
