Madonna University Delegation Pays Courtesy Visit to NUC Executive Secretary
A high-powered delegation from Madonna University, Nigeria, Elele, Rivers State Nigeria, has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdulahi Yusufu Ribadu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit, which took place recently, was led by Sir Chris Chioma, Chairman of the Governing Council of Madonna University. Other members of the delegation included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Martin Anagboso; the Administrator of Okija Campus, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Emedolu; and the Public Relations Officer, Mr Chima Achu.
Receiving the delegation, Professor Ribadu expressed appreciation for the visit and commended Madonna University for its enduring reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost private universities. He acknowledged the institution’s strong foundation in moral discipline, integrity, and academic excellence, as established by its founder, Very Rev. Fr. Prof.Emmanuel M.P. Edeh, OFR.
In his remarks, Sir Chris Chioma congratulated the Executive Secretary on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as well-deserved and timely. He conveyed the goodwill of the university community and wished Professor Ribadu a successful tenure in office.
Speaking further, Professor Martin Anagboso expressed gratitude to the NUC for the selection of Madonna University in the TETFund tenable institutions of study for the TETFund Scholarship for Academic Staff(TSAS) intervention programme by the Federal Government of Nigeria. He assured the Commission of the university’s continued commitment to excellence in Teaching, Research and Community engagement and to justifying the confidence reposed in it. Professor Anagboso also extended a formal invitation to the Executive Secretary to attend Madonna University’s upcoming convocation ceremony, scheduled for November 28, 2025.
The visit concluded with discussions on strengthening collaboration between the NUC and Madonna University, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing the quality and sustainability of higher education in Nigeria.
