FALSE AND MISCHIEVOUS ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE FACULTY OF PHARMACY, MADONNA UNIVERSITY-NIGERIA
Since the creation of the world, the cosmos has been consistently chaotic as a result of insistent strife for supremacy in all levels of human existence. A trek down the memory lane shows clearly that even the most perfect of societies and organisations have had their share of this struggle. Those who go for power with the sole aim to dominate and lord it over others and for their personal aggrandisement normally turn crazy when their planks fail and in some cases they resort to the principle of "if I don't have it then, let it go to blazes". Consequently, many noble institutions and even government parastatals have been destroyed no thanks to selfish individuals.
Without any fear of contradiction, I stand to state categorically clear that the write up on electronic media-(facebook) against the faculty of Pharmacy Madonna University is either master minded or actually written by some unscrupulous lecturers in the faculty who are desperate to see themselves in the corridors of power but are unable to do that because of the Madonna University policy which insists on rule of law for appointment of faculty officers, who must be men and women of integrity
Just like every other professional course in the University, the faculty of pharmacy has an independent complex that contains all that it takes to turn out products that can compete both locally and internationally. Our laboratories are equipped with the most modern facilities in the field accredited and approved as such by both National University Commission and Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. (The results are there for verification if anyone cares to).
Our staff strength is one of the most recommended in the country and this cannot be disputed consequent upon the fact that many of the Universities within our vicinity come around to appeal for the assistance of our lecturers in their faculties. How this whole idea of incompetent staff came about is what remains a shock to everyone who has a good knowledge of what stuff our staff are made of.
As we all know, the quality of any institution of learning is ascertained from the quality of the products it turns out. While we remain humble without trumpeting it before us, it is on record that our graduate from this faculty are working in almost every part of the world with our certificate. In terms of further studies, it is an indisputable fact that no University outside the shore of this country has ever asked any of our graduates to go in for make-up programmes before admitting them in their areas of interest as is always the case with people who present certificates from African Universities.
To be very concrete in our argument, it is pertinent to state here that a graduate of this faculty is presently the president of the Young Pharmacy Forum of Nigeria- a forum made up of all young pharmacists in Nigeria from zero to five years. This post is usually meant for the most intelligent and well-qualified young pharmacist in the country. In 2014, in a national convention which took place in Oyo, of all the contestants that came from all the Universities in Nigeria, Pharm. Eze Martins of Madonna University emerged the best and consequently became the president of the forum. Again, a graduate of this same faculty, Chibueze Okonkwo is the Assistant Editor EMDEX, a text book used by all Healthcare Professionals in Nigeria and other African countries. (Cf. EMDEX Vol. 1: 2015 Edition) This is very little out of enormous millstone accredited to graduates of this faculty.
WHAT EVERYONE MUST KNOW
That the writer of that article is one of the lecturers seeking for offices that cannot be given to them in the faculty going by our University policy that does not allow politicking for offices and considers not only professional competency but also the moral stand of the person(s) to be appointed.
That the method for screening our students for qualification exams was carefully formulated to ensure that both the interest of the candidates and that of the University are protected and hence has not been changed as claimed by the writer.
It is ridiculous also to accuse the University of changing her screening method for the purpose of extorting money from students when ideally our fees are the cheapest as compared to any other private University in the country offering pharmacy. (This assertion is subject to verification). If we needed more revenue for the faculty, what stops us from making an official increment in the fees or is the money from extortion sweeter?
We therefore call on members of the public and all well-thinking individuals to consider that write up as false, untrue, baseless, mischievous and all together misleading.
